I have just finished reading this lovely comic/manga X-Men: Misfits. It's hard to decide what to call this book since it is obviously done in a manga style, in artwork, shoujo writing style and format. Plus to add confusion it's not published by Marvel but by Del Rey's manga line. That all said it is a wonderful read.
The art work is lovely, and the characters look beautiful rendered in a shoujo style, it's interesting that some of the character designs are a radical departure if your expecting a normal x-men comic, for example Beast is literally a giant teddy bear, emphasis on the bear part, while Colossus looks like Mario (of Super Mario fame) and his metal form looks like a pot-bellied robot that would belong in the Astro-boy manga.
The writing is of a decidedly shoujo slant, the story focus around Kitty Pryde being accepted into the Xavier Academy. She is the only female student currently and almost all the guys fall in love with her. Many of the x-men regulars do appear in this version but they have dramatically new personalities in most cases.
All said I highly recommend this book, whether you are a manga fan, or a X-men fan this will be a great and enjoyable read.
Most people who know my boyfriend often ask him how his girlfriend puts up with his crap. I must either have a lot of patience or I have a weakness for jerks. I'm hoping it's the patience thing. Anyway - this blog is meant to be funny; although there will likely be moments when I am very angry and very serious about the crap he puts me through and there will be other times that I'll be mushy gushy and you'll want to excuse yourself from the computer to puke your guts out.
I have nothing particular to say about him today - other than he will probably be far too smug about me writing a blog about him than he should be, but I'll give you a brief introduction of him.
He's a 29-year-old single dad with a 5-year-old girl and a bat shit crazy sociopath for a baby mama (she may be mentioned here to as I am always stunned by how he could have ever been with such a douchey-chick). He used to play college baseball and was a big frat boy back in the day, so that might be where some of his attitude comes from. I personally think he shouldn't be on such a high horse anymore because he (A) hasn't finished school yet (is currently going thanks to my urging him), (B) he works in a call center (where for some reason everyone else thinks they are hella cool too...what?!), and (C) he has a girlfriend (ME) who has basically made it possible for him to have an awesome place to live, a nice car to drive, and loads of disposable income that he would only have if he lived at home with mom and dad (which he did when we first started dating and btw lied to me about until I called him out about it). Anyway, we've been together almost two years now and we live together as well - so I am in this for the long haul. I will probably make him sound like more of a jerk than he really is, but I think this blog will be fun.
I'm not trying to be a hater or anything or say that I myself am the shit; I just want to make it quite clear that I put up with a lot of crap from my man and I need a place to vent about it.

As we’ve seen who’s won and lost at VH1’s Critics’ Choice Awards this year it’s time we checked out the best five dresses of the show. No doubt there were a lot of cute dresses but these ones definitely top the Awards’ fashion and style list.
Penelope Cruz looked fabulous in the navy blue floor-sweeping silk dress. It stressed her svelte figure but also emphasized her cleavage and didn’t distract attention from her face and eyes. Simple, elegant, gorgeous.
Kate Beckinsale and her stylists know that dark chocolate hues flatter her. She opted for a curve hugging silk dress for Critics’ Choice Awards and looked stunning. Kate accessorized her dress with chandelier earrings and a couple of heavy bracelets. She waved to fans and posed for photographers looking all smiles, fresh and beautiful.
